We run on the generous and faithful hearts of individuals who show up when we put out the call, roll up their sleeves, and pour genuine love into every stem they touch and every delivery they make. Every volunteer who walks through the door right now is not just helping. They are building something. They are part of the foundation of a mission that is going to keep growing long after these early days are behind us. No experience necessary. No long term commitment required. Just a willing heart and a few hours that could change someone's entire week.

Here is what being a Petals of Light volunteer actually looks like — and where you might find your place in it.

  • When donated flowers are ready to be collected our volunteers are the ones who make it happen — coordinating with venues, florists, and donors to pick up arrangements after events and transport them to our workspace. If you have a vehicle and a flexible schedule this role is one of the most essential in our entire operation.

  • This is the heart of what we do — and the role most volunteers fall completely in love with. Sitting around a table with fresh donated blooms, carefully reimagining them into hand-tied personal arrangements, and knowing exactly whose hands they are headed toward. It is unhurried, joyful, and deeply meaningful work. No floral experience required — just a willingness to learn and a desire to create something beautiful for someone who needs it.

  • Our delivery volunteers are the ones who carry the mission across the finish line — loading up arrangements and driving them directly to the memory care facilities, veterans' homes, women's shelters, cancer treatment centers, and care communities we serve across the OKC metro. If you want to witness firsthand what happens when flowers walk through a door — this is the role for you.

  • When Petals of Light hosts or participates in community events our volunteers help set up and run our bloom bar — a beautiful and interactive display that brings the mission to life in a public setting. This role is perfect for someone who loves people, loves flowers, and loves the energy of a well run community event.

  • We participate in vendor fairs, nonprofit showcases, and community gatherings across the Oklahoma City area — and we need warm, passionate volunteers who can represent the Petals of Light mission in person. If you are comfortable talking to strangers about something you believe in this role was made for you.

  • Behind every beautiful arrangement is a supply run that made it possible. Volunteers who help coordinate and pick up vases, ribbon, wrapping, and other supplies keep the operation running smoothly between events and arranging sessions.

  • When Petals of Light hosts its own events our volunteers are the team that makes the room come together — setting up, welcoming guests, and ensuring every detail reflects the care and intention that defines everything we do.

how scheduling works

We work around life — not the other way around.

We are in our grassroots era which means our volunteer schedule is fluid, responsive, and built around what is actually happening rather than a rigid calendar. When flower pickups are confirmed, arranging sessions are scheduled, or deliveries are ready to go out — we send a notice to our volunteer community with the details and open spots available. You sign up for what works for you. No pressure. No guilt. No expectation beyond whatever you are genuinely able to give in that moment.

Some of our volunteers show up every single week. Some come once a month. Some jump in during busy seasons and step back when life gets full. All of it is welcome. All of it is valued.
