Your Questions, Answered.

We get a lot of good questions around here — and we love every single one of them. Here are the ones we hear most often, answered honestly and from the heart. If yours is not on the list, we are just a message away.

For Flower Donors and Event Partners

For the brides, florists, venues, wedding coordinators, flower farms, and anyone with fresh blooms to give after a celebration. If you have ever wondered what happens to your flowers after an event — or whether donating them is as simple as it sounds — the answers you are looking for are right here. Spoiler: it is simpler than you think, it costs you nothing, and the impact is more beautiful than you can imagine.

  • Honestly — almost any fresh cut flowers are welcome. Wedding arrangements, reception centerpieces, ceremony florals, cocktail hour blooms, event arrangements of every kind, surplus stems from a floral studio, and seasonal flowers from a farm. We work with what we receive and our volunteers are skilled at reimagining even the most unexpected combinations into something beautiful. The only flowers we are unable to use are those that are significantly wilted, damaged beyond recovery, or have been out of water for an extended period of time. If your flowers are still standing and still beautiful at the end of your event — they are exactly what we are looking for.

  • Fresh and hydrated is the ideal — flowers that are still in water or have been recently conditioned will give us the most to work with and ensure the arrangements we create are as beautiful as possible for the people receiving them. That said we understand that end of event timing is not always perfect and we will always do our best with whatever comes to us. If you are unsure whether your flowers are in good enough condition to donate — reach out and ask. We would rather you contact us and find out than assume the answer is no and let beautiful blooms go to waste.

  • It starts with a simple yes. Reach out to us through our website at petalsoflightok.org before your event — ideally a few days in advance — and let us know the date, the approximate volume of flowers, and the pickup location. We will coordinate directly with you or your venue coordinator to arrange a pickup time that fits naturally into the end of your event timeline. You do not need to sort, separate, or prepare anything. We arrive, we gather the flowers with care and gratitude, and we take it from there completely. One message is all it takes to get started.

  • As often as you would like — and never more than feels right for your business or your event schedule. Some of our partners donate after every single event. Some donate seasonally when their flower volume is at its peak. Some make a one time donation after a wedding and discover they want to make it a regular part of how they operate. There is no minimum frequency, no commitment required, and no expectation beyond whatever you are genuinely able and willing to give. Every donation — whether it is a one time gift or a weekly arrangement — is received with the same gratitude and put to the same beautiful use.

  • None. Not a single cent — ever. Flower pickup is always coordinated and carried out completely free of charge to every donor, partner, venue, and care facility we work with. The entire Petals of Light OK operation — from pickup coordination to the arranging table to the final delivery — is funded through the generosity of financial donors and carried forward by volunteers who give their time freely. You simply say yes and we handle everything else at no cost to you whatsoever.

  • Please do — and thank you for asking. Sharing Petals of Light OK with your clients, your vendor network, your florists, and your fellow coordinators is one of the most meaningful things a partner can do for this mission. We have shareable materials available including a brief description of who we are and what we do that you are welcome to include in your client welcome packets, vendor communications, or social media. The more people who know that their flowers have somewhere beautiful to go after a celebration — the more arrangements we can deliver and the more lives we can reach. If you would like shareable materials or a custom note to include in your client communications please reach out at petalsoflightok.org and we will get them to you promptly.

  • We do our best to respond to every inquiry within 24 to 48 hours — and often sooner. We are a volunteer driven organization which means response times may occasionally be slightly longer during especially busy event seasons. But we read every message and we take every inquiry seriously. If you are reaching out about a donation for an upcoming event please give us as much advance notice as possible — ideally three to five days — so we can coordinate pickup smoothly and make sure your flowers find their way to us without any last minute stress on your end.

  • This is one of our favorite questions to answer — because the answer is something we are genuinely proud of. Every flower donated to Petals of Light OK is handled personally by our volunteer team, reimagined into hand-tied arrangements at our arranging table, and delivered directly to the care communities we serve across the Oklahoma City metro. We document our deliveries, share our impact on social media, and update our community regularly on the number of arrangements delivered and the communities reached. We also welcome partners to follow along on our journey at instagram and on our website — where you will see the real faces and real moments that your donated flowers create. We have nothing to hide and everything to share. Your flowers go exactly where we say they go — and the people who receive them feel every bit of the love and intention that went into passing them forward.

Just a conversation — and then flowers.

  • Petals of Light OK delivers fresh hand-tied floral arrangements completely free of charge to memory care facilities, nursing homes, assisted living communities, hospice settings, veterans' homes and treatment centers, women's shelters, transitional housing organizations, cancer treatment centers, and any place across the greater Oklahoma City metro area where people are walking through something hard and could use a reminder that the world outside still sees them. We believe beauty, dignity, and human connection belong to everyone — regardless of circumstance, age, or what they are facing. If you serve people who need a moment of unexpected joy we want to be part of what you offer them.

  • We currently serve care communities across the greater Oklahoma City metropolitan area — including Edmond, Norman, Moore, Yukon, Mustang, Bethany, and the surrounding region. As our volunteer network and flower donation volume grows we are actively expanding our reach into additional communities across the OKC metro. If you are located outside of our current service area and believe your community would benefit from Petals of Light OK deliveries — please reach out anyway. We are always looking for the next community to welcome and we will do everything we can to find a way to serve you.

  • There is no cost — ever — to any care facility, organization, or individual who receives arrangements from Petals of Light OK. Our deliveries are funded entirely through the generosity of financial donors and carried forward by volunteers who give their time freely because they believe every person in your care deserves a moment of beauty and connection. From the first bloom collected to the last arrangement placed in someone's hands — every step of this process is completely free to everyone involved. That will never change.

  • Delivery frequency depends on our current flower donation volume, our volunteer capacity, and the number of communities we are actively serving at any given time. We do our best to serve each partner community as consistently and as frequently as our resources allow — and we are always working to grow both our donor base and our volunteer network so that we can show up more often for every community on our list. When you partner with Petals of Light OK we will communicate clearly about delivery frequency and keep you updated as our capacity grows. Our goal is to be a reliable and consistent presence in every community we serve.

  • Yes — and we love when they do. One of the most meaningful outcomes of our care facility partnerships has been the opportunity for residents to participate in the flower arranging process itself — not just receiving arrangements but helping create them. There is something profound about the difference between receiving something beautiful and being part of making it. If your facility is interested in hosting a flower arranging session with our volunteers, simply mention it when you reach out and we will do everything we can to make it happen.

  • As much or as little as your life allows. There is no minimum hour requirement, no mandatory schedule, and no expectation beyond whatever you are genuinely able to give. Some of our volunteers show up every single week and have become the backbone of everything we do. Others join us once a month or whenever their schedule permits. And some contribute in bursts — a full day of arranging before a big delivery week followed by a few weeks away. All of it is welcome. All of it is valued. If you are interested in volunteering the best first step is to fill out our volunteer interest form at petalsoflightok.org and let us know a little about your availability and what kind of role appeals to you most. We will be in touch to find the right fit.
