Rooted in Faith. Grown by Community. Delivered With Love.
Petals of Light OK is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Edmond, Oklahoma — and we are just getting started.
Since our founding we have delivered over 700 hand-tied arrangements to memory care facilities, nursing homes, assisted living communities, hospice settings, veterans' homes, women's shelters, and cancer treatment centers across the greater Oklahoma City metro area. We currently serve 9 care communities and that number grows every single month. Every arrangement we deliver is made by volunteers, funded by generous donors, and given freely — at no cost to anyone who receives it, requests it, or makes it possible.
We are not a passion project. We are not a hobby. We are a fully registered, faith-rooted, volunteer-driven nonprofit organization with a mission that is real, a community that is growing, and a need that does not slow down just because the week gets busy. What we do matters. Every arrangement we deliver represents a person whose day we genuinely believe is worth brightening — and that belief drives everything we do.What We Have Built Together
It Started With a Problem Nobody Should Look Away From
Every year thousands of pounds of fresh flowers are discarded after weddings, corporate events, church celebrations, and gatherings of every kind. Arrangements that filled rooms with color, fragrance, and beauty — that watched couples say their vows and marked some of the most meaningful moments in people's lives — swept into trash bags at the end of the night without a second thought.
At the same time, just miles away, seniors in memory care facilities were spending their days without a single fresh flower in sight. Veterans were sitting quietly in common rooms. Women were rebuilding their lives in shelters. Cancer patients were walking through something isolating and heavy and hard. And nobody was bringing them anything beautiful.
That disconnect — between what was being thrown away and what was so desperately needed — was the crack in the world that Petals of Light was built to fill. Not because it was easy. Not because someone had a business plan or a budget or a roadmap. But because it was right. Because beauty should never go to waste. And because no person — regardless of where they are in life or what they are walking through — should ever feel forgotten.
That conviction is still the foundation of everything we do.
The Hearts That Said Yes First
Every mission begins somewhere. Ours began with our founders — Sara, Chris, and a circle of like-minded hearts who looked at that disconnect between discarded flowers and lonely people and simply could not walk away from it.
Sara's calling was born not in a boardroom or a planning meeting but in the quiet and unmistakable way that certain truths make themselves known — the kind you cannot unknow once you have seen them. Guided by faith and moved by compassion she began collecting donated flowers after events, gathering volunteers around a table, and delivering hand-tied arrangements to the people and communities that needed them most. What started as one woman's conviction became an organization. What started as a handful of deliveries became over five hundred. What started as a calling became a community.
Our founders did not build Petals of Light for recognition. They built it because they believed — and still believe — that every person deserves a moment of unexpected beauty. That every bloom has a second story to tell. And that when people choose to show up for one another something extraordinary and unstoppable begins to grow.
In His love — we give.
This Mission Is Carried by Many Hands
Petals of Light is not two people. It is not even twenty.
It is the volunteer who shows up every Saturday morning and carefully reimagines donated stems into something new. It is the florist who donates the blooms left behind after a long week of weddings. It is the venue coordinator who tells every couple about us before their big day. It is the donor who gives quietly and consistently because they believe in what is happening here. It is the delivery driver who carries arrangements through the doors of a memory care facility and stays long enough to watch what happens next.
It is every willing heart that has ever said yes to this mission — in any form, at any level, for any amount of time.
These are the people who make Petals of Light OK real. They are the reason arrangements leave our hands and arrive in the hands of people who need them. They are the reason a grandmother reached out yesterday. They are the reason a veteran smiled this morning. They are the reason a woman in a shelter felt seen today when she had not felt that way in longer than she can say. If you are one of them — thank you does not feel like enough. But we mean it with everything we have. And if you are not yet one of them — there is still a place being held for you here.
We are proud of what we have built. And we are nowhere near finished.
Our vision for Petals of Light is a community where no care facility goes without fresh flowers. Where every wedding coordinator in Oklahoma City knows our name and offers flower donation to every couple they serve as naturally as they offer any other part of the planning process. Where volunteers are arranging and delivering every single week across an ever-growing network of communities, partners, and generous hearts. Where the number of arrangements we deliver grows from hundreds to thousands — because the need is that real and the mission is that worthy of scale.
We believe that happens one donor at a time. One partner at a time. One volunteer at a time. One arrangement at a time. And one person whose face lights up the moment something beautiful walks through their door — at a time.
Your support — whether it is financial, physical, or simply the act of sharing this mission with someone who needs to hear about it — is what carries us from where we are to where we know we are capable of going.
The need is real. The mission is proven. The community is growing. And we believe with everything we have that the most beautiful chapters of this story are still being written.Where we are going
Every bloom we deliver carries a message that needs no words — that you are seen, that you are valued, and that someone out there cared enough to make sure something beautiful found its way to you. That is not just what we do. That is who we are. And it is a promise we intend to keep for as long as there are flowers to give and people who need to receive them.
